Measuring the Masses: Part 3: U.S. Federal Census Records 1790-1840

Researching in United States censuses prior to 1850 presents unique challenges. U.S. censuses from 1790 through 1840 only name the heads of households and provide little other identifying information. In this class, we will discuss the value of pre-1850 censuses, explain how to gather information from the records, and demonstrate how to trace your family from census to census.
