Black students with disabilities are disproportionately pushed out of schools through suspensions, expulsions, seclusion, and other exclusionary discipline practices. This intersection of racism and ableism often results in systemic denial of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), criminalization of behaviors related to disability, and long-term harm to academic and emotional development. Addressing this issue is critical to dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline, protecting civil rights, and ensuring educational equity.
