Assembling the Future: Citizens, Change, and a Game Jam Revolution

Join us for Assembling the Future: Citizens, Change, and a Game Jam Revolution — a dynamic session exploring how Citizens’ Assemblies (CAs) are transforming democracy through collective decision-making. Hosted by Jess, with insights from Caroline on what CAs are, how they work, and why they matter, and a spotlight on One World Or None. We'll also share how this journey has inspired a unique next step: a mobile game jam designed to bring civic imagination to life. Stick around for a live Q&A where Jess, Caroline, Jamie, and Tristan will dive deeper into your questions and ideas. “Citizens, Assemble!” kicks off June 6 and will run through early August. Open to creators of all backgrounds, the jam will have a $10,000 prize for the top game, amongst prizes for additional categories and the potential for further development support for standout submissions. The jam will run across two phases, with teams creating prototypes in a two-week Phase 1, then iterating concepts based on feedback in Phase 2. Final submissions will be judged on a variety of categories including Best Overall, Best Gameplay and Citizen’s Vote (determined by a public voting). Notable guest judges will include Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Brian Eno and award winning founding Chair of BiG (BAME in Games) Kish Hirani. About the Speaker: Caroline Vernaillen is the Lead Global Policy & Advocacy at Democracy International, where she focuses on connecting organisations and individuals working to advance direct democracy and citizen participation around the world. Her work involves gathering best practices globally and creating opportunities for exchange and learning among those engaged in democratic innovation.
