Our societal reliance on space applications and services continues to grow, with applications spanning communication systems, navigation, earth observation, and more. SWF has facilitated a statement with members of the global space industry in support of commitments not to conduct destructive anti-satellite tests. These tests directly threaten the safety of our space systems and the long-term sustainability of the space environment within which they operate, including the future economic development of low Earth orbit.
In recognition of the companies that have stepped forward to make this commitment, Secure World Foundation will hold a virtual launch event to release the Space Industry Statement in Support of International Commitments to Not Conduct Destructive Anti-Satellite Testing.
This virtual event will feature an invited panel of senior executives drawn from the supporting companies, who will discuss the relevance and importance of the DA-ASAT test moratorium to the growth of sustainable space activities.
By building upon previous international commitments, the statement marks a significant step towards a more secure and sustainable outer space environment for all. Dive deep into the commitment made by these leading commercial space organizations, the challenges posed by destructive anti-satellite tests, and the decisive role the commercial space industry will play in the future economic and sustainable space environment, from low Earth orbit and beyond.
The complete statement will be released alongside the webinar discussion.
